Much more than just an exhibition

Finding new ways to share knowledge and best practices has never been more important in the world of water technology. Aquatech Amsterdam is more than an exhibition. During this years event, visitors discovered the latest trends, developments and solutions to challenges in the water industry on the exhibition floor, during guided tours, seminars, co-located events, special pavilions and social events!

During Aquatech Amsterdam 2017, visitors discovered the industry solutions for the marjor changes in the water sector at the pavilions.

Industrial User Experience

Visitors were able to dive into the world of industrial water use at The Industrial User Experience, powered by Wetsus. It offered the latest solutions and information on water use in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, food & beverage, paper, energy and chemicals.

Desalination Pavilion

Water scarcity and water re-use are a growing market for both governments and the private sector, as they become ever more pressing issues in many regions of the world. The use of desalination is growing all over the world. Visitors learned from the experts at this specialized Desalination pavilion. They visited the pavilion and saw the latest trends from these participants: Aqua Abib (Spain), Adiquimica (Spain), BASF (Germany), EU Project: Integroil (Italy), EU Project: REvivED (Italy), EU Project: Salgae (Italy).

Smart Water Networks

The Smart Water Networks Pavilion (powered by SWAN Forum) offered visitors a focussed hotspot to learn all about the latest trends and technologies in the sectors. The Pavilion was complemented by a seminar programme at the AquaStage. These participants were present: Aganova, Bentley Systems International, ControlPoint, Kamstrup, Servelec, Utilis Israel and WatEner.

Pumps & Process Plaza

The Pumps & Process Plaza was the “plaza” to be for water users interested in pumps, pump systems and other related components. Top industry leaders such as KSB Nederland, Xylem Water Solution, and Flux Pompen Benelux informed visitors all about manufacturing, research, development and application of pumps and pump systems.

Country pavilions

Countries from around the world showcased companies under one flag, presenting their local products and solutions, knowledge and expertise. Many host networking receptions and presentations showcased the latest projects (under development) in their region.

Pipefitting championships

Teams from around the world competed against each other and against the very best the Dutch water companies have to offer. The competition included mechanics as well as a ladies competition, a rookie race and a competition between the management teams.

Knowledge sessions during Aquatech Amsterdam

Visitors benefited from joining interactive sessions to update their knowledge!


Knowledge exchange and networking were an important part of the Aquatech platform. The AquaStage (booth 03.118) offered visitors networking opportunities and easy access to free educational sessions.
Topics on stage were, Innovation, Circular Economy, Climate Change, Pollution Control, Resilient Cities, Water Scarcity and many more.

Circular Economy Expo

We must view water as part of a circular economy, where it retains full value after each use and eventually returns to the system. This means re-use of wastewater, and resource recovery from waste water, including energy recovery. Many organisations are looking to make money out of their waste water. Aquatech highlighted the latest developments on resource recovery and bringing it to the market.

Meet and Greet

Visitors met with experts and colleagues on the exhibition floor, but also in a more informal setting during the Social Event.

Aquatech Run

Visitors challenged their colleagues and invited their clients for a 5k Aquatech Run! They combined business and sports to enjoy this great opportunity for networking in a very different way. Some of the participants ran, whilst the others walked the Aquatech Run. The Aquatech Run took place on Thursday 2 November and started at 7 am. The participants enjoyed the beautiful route through the Beatrixpark and finished in front of the Aquatech entrance, where a healthy breakfast was presented to them. The registration costs of € 25 and the proceeds went to a water related charity!

Social Event: Boat tour through the canals

Visitors and their colleagues, customers, and business friends joined us on a boat tour through the city centre canals, departing from the RAI Amsterdam harbor. Once again we organised this Aquatech social event for them to enjoy some time with other water technology experts in a less formal setting.


The 5th matchmaking event for water technology took place on 2 November 2017 during Aquatech Amsterdam. AquaMatch enabled exhibiting companies and visiting experts to find many business opportunities, to share their knowledge and experience, learn from water professionals and best practices and be inspired by the world’s most leading water experts. The AquaMatch was organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and the Enterprise Europe Network.


These latest innovations in water technology were presented during Aquatech Amsterdam 2017: products, services and solutions from market leaders, experts and start ups, all under one roof.


Research and development in the area of water are vital for the future of many businesses, as well as for a sustainable future of our world. The Aquatech InnovationLAB (Booth 07.550) encouraged and rewarded organisations that innovate and stand out from the competition.

Aquatech Innovation Award

Research and development in the area of water is vital for the future of many businesses, but also for the sustainable future of our world. The most innovative products currently on the market were put in the spotlight at booth 07.550, in the categories: Wastewater treatment, Water supply (incl. Point of use), Transport & Storage, Process control technology & process automation, Innovation not to market yet.

BlueTech Innovation Pavilion

The BlueTech Research Innovation Pavilion (booth 07.552) was the go-to-area for water professionals looking for cutting-edge technology offerings in the industry. The pavilion consisted of 8 short-listed and specially selected companies and provided them with the opportunity to showcase the latest in cutting edge water technologies. The innovations on display at the BlueTech Research Innovation Pavilion were focused on circular economy applications.

InnovationLAB Experiences

The Experiences (Booth 07.550) at the InnovationLAB functions as a central platform to showcase the latest developments in fundamental research projects and research & development.

Guided Innovation Tours

The Guided Innovation Tours helped visitors to review the latest technology and innovation on display at Aquatech Amsterdam. The tours provided easy access and saved visitors time as they visited a number of stands on the floor and got an explanation from a BlueTech Research technology expert.


Innovation Avenue

Innovation was put in the spotlight alongside the Innovation Avenue in hall 7: the place to be to learn about the lastest innovative technologies!

Floodex Europe Launch Event

On Tuesday October 31st, as part of the Amsterdam International Water Week and co-located with Aquatech Amsterdam, you are invited to attend the Floodex Europe Launch Event. The event focuses on flood defense, water level management, prevention, mitigation and drainage.

Amsterdam International Water Week

Aquatech Amsterdam is part of the Amsterdam International Water Week, which is thé platform for new alliances and fresh ideas: connecting industry, science, business, policy and technology.
