Leading international supplier of activated carbon purification solutions, CPL/Puragen, has been awarded a prestigious Green Apple environmental award for its PFAS abatement technology, called "PFAS 'Forever' Chemicals - Search, Capture & Destroy"
The prize-winning entry described how our best-in-class granular activated carbons (GAC) remove PFAS molecules from drinking water and wastewater streams, then the spent activated carbon can be recycled via advanced thermal reactivation at our UK facility. Of all of the technologies available for PFAS abatement, only GAC can be recycled in this way, making it a truly sustainable solution. We have shown, via external testing, that our gas and liquid phase emissions from our thermal reactivation are essentially free from PFAS compounds, meaning that the PFAS have been destroyed by our downstream thermal oxidisers and scrubbers, and therefore permanently removed from the environment. PFAS molecules are no longer 'forever' chemicals when they come face-to-face with CPL/Puragen REACT-Sys technology!
