Dai Xiaohu

Dai Xiaohu has served as the chief expert of the National 863 Program, the deputy head of the General Expert Group of the National Key Research and Development Program on "Solid Waste Resourcing" and "Key Technologies and Equipment for Circular Economy", and the senior member of the International Water Association (IWA).
Prof. Dai has long been committed to the theory and technology research on the resource treatment of sewage, sludge and organic waste, presided over more than 10 national research projects, and has published more than 360 SCI papers, authorized more than 120 Chinese patents for invention and 11 international patents for invention, and published 5 books. Prof. Dai has been awarded the Third National Award for Excellence in Innovation, the 14th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize, two first prizes of Shanghai Technology Invention Prize, two first prizes of the Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award, four gold prizes of the International Invention Exhibition, the silver prize of the IWA Project Innovation Award, one of the "Top Ten Chinese Scientific and Technological Achievements in the Ecology and Environment Field in 2021".

Dragan Savić

A globally recognised water engineering and hydroinformatics expert with over 40 years of experience across academia, consultancy, and technology, he has shaped the sector through research, mentoring future water leaders, leading international organisations, holding visiting/distinguished professorships, and serving on advisory boards for water tech companies and government bodies worldwide. Known for bridging science with practice, he brings innovation and leadership to the broader water sector and utilities.

Guo Youzhi
Guo Youzhi, served as a technician at the Desert Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) in 1985, the Lab Director of the Brackish Water Desalination Institute of Gansu Academy of Sciences from 1989 to 1995, the General Manager of China Bluestar Chemical Group Membrane Company from 1995 to 2004, and the Deputy Director of the SciTech Department at China Chemical Group from 2004 to 2009. In 2005, he initiated and chaired the Qingdao International Water Conference, and served as the Professor and Director at the Unconventional Water Resources and Seawater Desalination Research Center at Hohai University Since 2010. He has held key positions in plenty of industry-leading organizations, including serving as the first Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Desalination Association (APDA), the first Secretary-General of the China Membrane Industry Association, the Secretary-General of the IWA Unconventional Water Committee, as well as the chief editor of the journal China Desalination.
In the aspect of industry contributions, Professor Guo Youzhi spearheaded the state-level project "Seawater Desalinated for Beijing." He was awarded the 2009 Man of the Year title by Science and Technology Daily alongside Yuan Longping and Zhong Nanshan. He is a pioneering figure and key advocate in China's membrane and water treatment field, having participated in numerous major national research initiatives. In 2005, he organized the first edition of Qingdao International Water Conference. He has also actively promoted the collaboration in global desalination sector besides of China, Japan, South Korea as the founder of the Asia-Pacific Desalination Organization.

Huang Li

Huang Li, graduated from the School of Municipal and Environmental Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology with a master’s degree, he has over 40 years of experience in the water treatment industry, is familiar with fundamental water treatment theories, proficient in conventional water treatment processes and technologies, and knowledgeable about water treatment materials and their characteristics. He has long been dedicated to water treatment process research and product design, as well as water treatment technology training, both domestically and internationally.
He authored the Low-Pressure Boiler Installation Manual (Water Treatment Section), published by China Machine Press, and Low-Pressure Boiler Water Treatment and Chemical Cleaning, an industry training textbook.
Technical Expertise: Electrocatalytic water ecological restoration equipment and technology; Design and manufacture of air-source (oxygen-source) ozone generators; Design and manufacture of water electrolysis ozone generators; Design and manufacture of low-temperature plasma generators; Application of BDD advanced oxidation technology.

Mark van Loosdrecht
Chair Professor in Environmental Biotechnology at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands
Mark van Loosdrecht graduated (MSc/PhD) from Wageningen University. His PhD research was a combination of Microbiology and Colloid Chemistry. He was appointed at Delft in 1988 and became Full Professor in 1999. His research is characterized by the combination of scientific understanding of complex systems and development of new processes.
Dr. van Loosdrecht’s scientific interests are mainly related to biofilm processes, nutrient conversion processes and the role of storage polymers in microbial ecology. In particular, he is interested in new processes related to wastewater treatment and resource recovery. His research has resulted in several processes currently applied on full scale such as the BCFS process, Sharon process, Anammox process and Nereda process.
He is active member of the International Water Association (IWA) and past chairman of the Biofilm and the Nutrient removal specialist groups. He has been Editor-in-Chief of Water Research. He obtained several prizes for his work, including the Lee Kuan Yew Singapore Water Prize, Stockholm Water Prize and the IWA Grand Award.
He is member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE) and the US National Academy of Engineering (US-NAE). He was awarded a knighthood in the order of the Dutch Lion. He has published over 1000 scientific papers, has 25 patents and has supervised over 100 PhD students.

Ruan Chenmin

Ruan serves as the President and Executive Chief Editor of a Shanghai magazine “Water Purification Technology”, and concurrently holding positions as Standing Committee Member/Deputy Secretary-General of the Engineering Education Committee, Member of the Science and Technology Committee, and Member of the Youth Committee in China Urban Water Association (CUWA). He is also the council member/Secretary-General of the Shanghai Water Purification Technology Society, Vice President of the Shanghai Periodicals Association, Director of the Technical Periodicals Committee of the Shanghai Society for Scientific & Technical Periodicals, and Vice Chairman of the Researching journals.
With rich experience in SciTech information consulting, scientific achievement exchange, and R&D-related work in the water industry, he has hosted and published some China's scientific core journals such as the “Water Purification Technology”, and has been awarded the titles of "Outstanding SciTech Journal Youth" in Shanghai and "Outstanding Journal Editor" in East China. He has successively led or participated in research projects including "Development Goals, Approaches, and Key Measures for Shanghai's Water Affairs during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period," earning one Second Prize of Shanghai Water and Maritime Technology Award, one Second-Class project in the Outstanding Engineering Consulting Achievement in Shanghai, one Shanghai Science Education Innovation Award, and three outstanding SciTech articles recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Besides, he also participated the editing and publishing of a science book ”Drink from the source - Black Technologies in Drinking Water” and published over 20 academic papers.

Shu Shihu

Shu Shihu, one of the Shanghai technology leaders, Professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Environment, Donghua University, academic leader in municipal engineering. He used to served as the R&D Head at the National Engineering Research Center for Urban Water Resources Development and Utilization (South China), and Director of the Pipeline Network Institute at Shanghai Chengtou Research Institutes. He is now concurrently holding positions as the Secretary-General of the IWA Water Loss Specialist Group-China region; standing committee member of the IWA Digital Water Programme China Subgroup; standing director of the Municipal Engineering Branch and the expert committee member of Water Industry Branch at the China Civil Engineering Society(CCES); council member of the Science and Technology Committee, Equipment and Material Committee, Youth Working Committee, and Smart Water Committee of the China Urban Water Association(CUWA); expert committee member of the Standardization Administration Committee of the China Municipal Engineering Association(CMEA); director of Shanghai Chengtou Drinking Water Safety Assurance Youth Innovation Lab; and young editorial board member of the journals both “Water & Wastewater Engineering” and “China Water & Wastewater”. He’s mainly engaged in the research on simulation and optimization of water pipeline systems, safety assurance of drinking water, and water loss control etc.

Yujia Shen
China General Manager of Global Water Intelligence (GWI)
with extensive research experience in the environmental and water sector. She has deep expertise in Asian water market policy, project financing and procurement models, supply chain dynamics, and competitive landscape analysis across water-related industries.
Her research contributions at GWI span both Asian water markets and global water technology trends, including key publications such as the China Industrial Water Market report, Desalination & Water Reuse Quarterly, and the Global Water Market series. In recent years, her work has focused on water technology investment trends and the scaling of artificial intelligence applications in the water sector.
Dr. Shen holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Zhang Lan

Zhang Lan, a senior research fellow, and the Head of the Department of Water Quality and Health Monitoring, NIEH, China CDC. She’s mainly engaged in research on drinking water and health, water testing technologies, and wastewater epidemiology, etc. She’s in charge of or participated in the drafting of many national and industry standards, including the "Hygienic Standards for Drinking Water", "Standard Examination Methods for Drinking Water", "Hygienic Safety Evaluation of Distribution Equipment, Protective Materials and Treatment Materials in Drinking Water System", and the "Method for Enrichment and Nucleic Acid Detection of SARS-Cov-2 in Sewage”, as well as over 20 national major SciTech projects, or key R&D Programs. She had won 9 various SciTech awards, including the First Prize and Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, issued more than 200 academic papers. She also edited or co-edited 26 books.

Zhao Kai
R&D vice president at Shenzhen Angel Drinking Water Industry Group and a senior technical expert in the water purification industry
With over 30 years of R&D and manufacturing experience of water purification products and equipment, Zhao Kai led the whole series of Angel's technologies and products development since 2012. Under his leadership, the group achieved a marketing revenue exceeding RMB 2.5 billion in 2023, with products exported to 65 countries worldwide and winning more than 900 patents.
In terms of academic and social roles, Zhao Kai has currently served as a council member of the China Association of Inventions (CAI) since 2025; and he used to be the Senior Vice President of the Water Purification Committee of the Membrane Industry Association of China (MIAC) in 2021 and Vice President of the Fresh Air and Purified Water Branch of the China Construction Metal Structure Association (CCMSA) in 2022. In 2025, he was also appointed as a technical expert for the Drinking Water Appliance Committee of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA). His innovative achievements have won numerous prestigious awards at home and aboard, such as the Second Prize of the Sci-Tech Award from the China Membrane Industry Association; three Gold Awards and three Silver Awards at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, Switzerland; three Gold Awards, two Silver Awards, and two Bronze Awards at the International Exhibition of Inventions Nuremberg, Germany; as well as three Gold Awards and three Silver Awards at the Asian Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions. Furthermore, he had published 5 SCI papers, demonstrating his strong innovative capabilities deeply integrated the industry, academia, and research sectors.

Zhou Min
Zhou Min, senior engineer, registered environmental protection engineer, member of the Smart Water Professional Committee of the China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association, and member of the 11th Council of the Shanghai Water Purification Technology Society. At present, he is employed by Sino-French Water Development Co., Ltd. in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, serving as the director of the Water Research Center. His main responsibilities include the research on various industrial wastewater treatment technologies, process optimisation, wastewater toxicity assessment and detoxification process research, development of toxic and harmful pollutant treatment processes, and water resource recycling. Assist in the stable operation of the sewage treatment plant in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, solve environmental protection problems within the industrial park, and moderately advance the planning work related to sewage treatment in the park.
