When used in drinking water treatment, it increases the pH level and therefore facilitates iron and manganese removal.

Drinking Water Treatment with EVERZIT® N
Do use the filter material EVERZIT® N as bio-filter layer for the removal of iron and manganese. You will increase the quality of the filtrate by the ultimate water filtration using the purest anthracite. Furthermore, the EVERZIT® N increases the filter velocity whereas the need to backwash your filter system decreases. Seawater Pre-treatment
Reverse osmosis (RO) is the main treatment step in seawater desalination. The membranes used in the reverse osmosis process are sensitive to particulate fouling, and therefore the raw water feed to them must be absolutely free of suspended particles. This is ensured by prefiltration of inlet seawater by EVERZIT® N in classical multilayer filter beds.
