Aquatech Mexico 2026: A decade of driving critical water solutions

Mexico is facing one of its greatest water-related challenges: ensuring access, strengthening infrastructure, and improving water efficiency across key sectors.

In this context, spaces that successfully connect innovation, industry, and knowledge are no longer optional – they are essential. Against this backdrop, Aquatech Mexico 2026 returns as a key meeting point for the most relevant players in the sector, reflecting the maturity and impact the event has built within the water industry across Latin America.

From September 1-3 at Centro Banamex, the event will bring together more than 8,000 professionals, over 200 exhibiting companies, and representatives from nearly 29 countries, consolidating its role as a space where conversations translate into real business opportunities. Event marketing manager Eunice Roque tells Aquatech what attendees and exhibitors can expect from this year’s edition.

A space where the industry truly moves

Since its early editions, Aquatech Mexico has established itself as a key meeting point for the water industry. Today, it operates as a platform where companies, specialists, academia, and decision-makers come together – connecting technology, knowledge, and real business opportunities.

More than simply showcasing solutions, Aquatech Mexico offers a clear view of where the industry is heading. From data-driven developments and automation to innovations in treatment, reuse, and smart infrastructure, what happens on the exhibition floor reflects the shifts that are redefining the sector.

That is precisely what makes the event relevant: it is not just about spotting trends, but about understanding what works, identifying the right partners, and translating solutions into tangible projects.

Who is Aquatech Mexico for?

Aquatech Mexico is designed for those who make decisions, develop solutions, or directly influence water management. Engineers, technology providers, solution developers, public institutions, industry leaders, consultants, investors, and academia all find a space here to stay up to date, build partnerships, and understand the real pulse of the market.

For many attendees, the event serves as a true industry barometer – what is presented and discussed at Aquatech Mexico often helps shape priorities and agendas for the years ahead.

Content that connects with what truly matters

One of Aquatech Mexico’s key differentiators is its focus on practical, actionable content. Through conferences, dedicated content zones, and interactive spaces, the event goes beyond discussion, translating ideas into insights that can be applied in the short and medium term.

The conference programme strengthens this experience by addressing some of the most pressing issues facing the sector today, including Mexico’s water regulatory framework, digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence, sustainability, and the investment models shaping the future of the industry.

The sessions are designed to bridge strategic vision with real-world cases, offering a practical perspective on how to tackle current challenges from multiple angles.

These conversations extend beyond the stage and onto the exhibition floor, through networking spaces and meetings where some of the most meaningful connections often take place. Because in this industry, relationships remain just as important as technology.

For exhibitors, this translates into something very tangible: visibility among a highly qualified audience with a genuine interest in collaboration, investment, and innovation.

Innovation with real impact: 8th Edition of the Innovation Award

As part of this vision, Aquatech Mexico presents the 8th edition of the Innovation Award, an initiative that recognises solutions with real impact on the water industry.

Aimed at exhibiting companies and academia, the award highlights developments that integrate technologies such as artificial intelligence, water treatment and reuse, smart infrastructure, and sustainability models.

Beyond the concept itself, projects are evaluated based on viability, scalability, and tangible value for the sector.

In addition to recognition, selected projects gain visibility within the event, presentation opportunities before industry leaders – including at the AquaStage – and direct connections with strategic partners.

It is not just an award; it is a platform to accelerate ideas that are ready to move forward.

10 years reflecting an industry in transformation

Looking back at Aquatech Mexico’s 10-year journey is not simply about revisiting numbers, but about understanding how the industry itself has evolved.

This anniversary edition arrives at a critical moment, as increasing pressure on water infrastructure demands more integrated, scalable, and collaborative solutions.

From emerging technologies to more comprehensive systems, from technical discussions to strategic alliances, Aquatech Mexico has accompanied – and in many cases driven – the sector’s transformation.

From the verge of Day Zero to a brighter future?

Mexico’s water challenges are well known. While much media attention has focused on Mexico City itself and the possibility that it might reach a Day Zero event, other areas of the country are also suffering from water scarcity and availability issues.

Monterrey, for example, is located in the driest water basin in the country, but produces eight per cent of the national GDP. Utility Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey (SADM) is combating water scarcity issues in the region through pressure regulation and increased real-time monitoring.

Across the country, however, prospects are improving thanks to changes enacted following President Claudia Sheinbaum’s inauguration in 2024.

One of the president’s major policy announcements was the enshrining of water as a human right in the National Water Plan 2024-2030.

This guarantees the human right to water in sufficient quantity and quality, ensures the sustainability of resources, and promotes adequate and responsible management of water in all its uses.

  • To order concessions, whose purpose is to avoid overexploitation and hoarding.
  • Administrative simplification to reduce response times, increase transparency and remove corruption.
  • To promote the National Technification Program in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture to make more efficient use of water in the countryside, while producing more food.
  • Preparation of an infrastructure master plan in coordination with states and municipalities, integrating 16 strategic projects to provide drinking water to the areas of greatest water stress, as well as works to protect the population.
  • The sanitation of rivers, prioritising the three most polluted: the Lerma-Santiago; Atoyac; and Tula.
  • In addition, the Plan seeks to advance towards food security and national development.

Since 2024, a series of large infrastructure projects have complemented local efforts to improve water conservation and availability.

Some of these projects include upgrading existing but inefficient treatment facilities, but also include nature-based solutions, such as wetland restoration, aimed at restoring natural cooling and storage environments.

New technologies are also being explored to improve both access to clean water and to showcase the innovation needed to continue the progress already being made in the country.

An invitation to be part of what’s next

In an environment where efficiency, resilience, and sustainability are more urgent than ever, Aquatech Mexico 2026 stands out as an essential space for those looking to understand the market, connect with key stakeholders, and actively contribute to the industry’s future.

If you are part of the water sector, develop solutions, or simply want to stay ahead of what is shaping the industry, now is the time to get involved.

Visitor registration is now open, and being part of this anniversary edition is also a way to join a conversation that has never been more relevant.

Aquatech Mexico takes place from 1-3 September 2026 at Centro Banamex, Mexico City. Last year’s event saw more than 18,000 visitors from more than 75 countries, and more than 450 exhibitors.
