The urgent need to solve water

Where’s the best place to grab a coffee, snack, lunch or dinner while visiting Amsterdam? The Aquatech Team provides their favourite recommendations while in the city.

1) A modern twist to tradition at the Traveller South

“I highly recommend to visit the worldly restaurant The Traveller. Located in the building of the former restaurant The Roast Room, The Traveller South will be an inspiring place where local residents, entrepreneurs, students and trade fair visitors to the RAI are welcome from morning until late at night to enjoy traditional world dishes in a fresh-modern restaurant.”

2) Fresh, delicious sandwiches at Feduzzi

“Feduzzi has the best sandwiches and salads for lunch. They make it easy for you by offering freshly prepared ready meals from their kitchen. There is always a choice of different (vegetarian) pastas, lasagna, (meal) salads, meat and fish dishes. Everything is delicious!’

3) Superfood fixes at the Cold Pressed Juicery

“The Cold Pressed Juicery at the Herengracht is one of my favourites. It was founded with a spirited heart and an ambitious goal - to offer the purest, cold pressed juices, delicious superfood smoothies and nutritious food that help towards a happier mind, body, and soul, while leading the way for socially-conscious initiatives. They do not add any sugar, preservatives, pesticides, chemicals or any other additives to our products. They create cold pressed juices and raw foods, 100% organic, local and pure natural produce, 100% of the time.”

4) A bustling oasis at Taproom ‘t Blauwe Theehuis

“Taproom ‘t Blauwe Theehuis is located in the middle of the Vondelpark. A bustling oasis where you can enjoy a good cup of coffee, delicious sandwiches, pizzas from Renato’s, all kind of snacks and freshly tapped beers from Brouwerij ‘t IJ all day long. Put on your sweater, because even in the winter it is a very nice place!”

5) Sky high views and atmosphere at Floor17

“I recommend rooftop restaurant Floor17. In both summer or winter, the spectacular Rooftop Terrace of Floor 17 has an amazing atmosphere and view over Amsterdam. Floor17 and its 85 meters high Rooftop Terrace are exquisite event locations to organize private social and corporate events. From team building activities, BBQ's, or long summer evenings with DJ’s and cocktails to a complete winter rooftop terrace with a curling track, everything is possible.”

6) Steak lovers rejoice at Café Loetje

“I would recommend going to Café Loetje at the Johannes Vermeerstraat. When it was founded about 40 years ago, it was intended to become a successful billiard café. Then Ludwig 'Loetje' Klinkhamer made a fortunate mistake by putting his tenderloin steak on the menu. Soon the place was full of lovers of the best steak who wondered why billiards got in the way! Till this day Loetje is well known among the steak lovers!”

7) Chocolate heaven at Tony’s Chocolonely Bar

“Tony’s Chocolonely Chocolate Bar is a dream come true for every chocolate fan. Everything’s about chocolate and you’ll be able to learn everything about Tony’s serious mission while enjoying crazy delicious choco-creations.”

8) Hop on board the metro

“I highly recommend you step into the metro when you are at Aquatech. It takes you to the city centre in just six minutes, every six minutes. In the other direction it connects you to train station Amsterdam South with trains leaving frequently to Schiphol Airport in about six minutes. It may not be the most attractive recommendation, but I assure you it is the most convenient and the integrated art and architecture of the stations is an additional bonus.”
