Calling all innovators! Join the Aquatech Innovation Awards 2021

Wednesday, 25 August 2021

The Aquatech Amsterdam Innovation Awards 2021 are now open for entries. For decades the award has been given to innovative products, services and solutions in the water sector - and now is your chance to enter.

Calling all innovators

Do you have an innovative product that has the potential to change the water industry? Do you run a revolutionary service that could disrupt the sector? Maybe you have a solution to one of the biggest challenges that water currently faces?

If the answer to any of those is yes, then we want you to submit your entry for the Aquatech Amsterdam Innovation Awards 2021.

Exhibitors are invited to enter their innovative solution, product or technologies that will be judged by an expert jury who will select from an incredible line-up of innovations and decide who will walk away with this year's prizes.

In a first for the Innovation Award, the competition will also welcome non-exhibitors including start-ups, universities and other organisations to enter their innovations.

There are five categories to compete in:

  • Water supply (including point-of-use)
  • Wastewater treatment
  • Transport and process & control
  • Green chemicals for water technology
  • Innovation – not to market yet.

The entries will be judged on three criteria:

  • Originality
  • Practicality (technical, economical, feasibility)
  • Sustainability (environment, security, energy and efficiency).

The deadline for the online application is September 8th, 2021. Apply here!

The Award winners will be announced at the official opening of Aquatech Amsterdam on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Join us at the Aquatech Innovation Dinner, following the official Opening Ceremony, for a three-course meal including drinks to celebrate innovation and the sharpest and most creative minds in the industry.

The new Industry Choice Award

As well as our exceptional roster of international judges, you too can have your say and vote for your favourite entry in the inaugural Industry Choice Award.

The entry with the highest number of votes will become the first recipient of the Industry Choice Award.

“Knowledge and innovation are the cornerstones of Aquatech,”, says Editha Hoogenberg, director of Aquatech Amsterdam.

“A visit to Aquatech Amsterdam offers you a view on the future and can have a significant impact on any business. Who would want to miss that?”

Previous winners

The Kaumera Nereda Gum, a valuable resource that can be extracted from the wastewater treatment process, was a winner of the 2019 awards.

The innovation is a biological raw material that can retain as well as repel water, giving it great potential to be used in agriculture, as well as the paper and construction industries.

“This was by far the biggest innovative step from all of the entries received,” said jury chairman Professor Cees Buisman, Scientific Director of Wetsus, the European centre of excellence for sustainable water technology.

“It’s completely new and hasn’t been done before. In an urbanising world, it's going to have much impact to help enable a circular economy.”
