Water utilities have one of the most important responsibilities among service providers: providing safe drinking water and removing and treating wastewater from residential, commercial and industrial sectors. Operating water-supply networks, utilities are responsible for removing contaminants from water sources, such as groundwater, surface water and seawater, before pumping and piping clean water to their customers.
